Melania's Party

Der Monat Juni wurde von vielen Party's gepraegt. Die mit Abstand schoenste Feier war jedoch der 2. Geburtstag von Melania.

The month of June was full of parties, but Melania's 2nd birthday celebration was for sure the biggest highlight.

Der Clown "Pepe", der durch den Tag fuehrte, hatte im Garten von Melania's Oma mehrere Stationen aufgebaut, die es zu erkunden gab. Bei Temperaturen, um die 30 Grad konnten die Kinder sich im Pool abkuehlen oder eine nasse Rutschpartie machen.

"Pepe", the clown, who was in charge for the day, had set up many activity stations in the garden of Melania's Grandmother that needed to be discovered. The kids were able to take a dip in the pool or use the waterslide, which was refreshing by temperatures around 30 degrees.

Am Maltisch hatten sie die Moeglichkeit Ihrer Kreativitaet freien Lauf zulassen.

On the drawing table, they got the chance to be creative.

Am spannendsten fand Enrique jedoch die Seifenblasenstation. Dort gab es die verschiedensten Instrumente und Maschinen, die zur Produktion dieser "Baelle" genutzt werden konnten.

But for Enrique, the bubble station was by far the most interesting section. There, he was able to find different instruments and machines to produce them.



Ausserdem sorgte Pepe fuer Unterhaltung. Er hatte nicht nur seine 2 Voegel mitgebracht, sondern ...

On top of this, Pepe also entertained the kids. He did not only bring his 2 lovely birds to the party, ...

... fuehrte auch einige Zaubertricks vor. Ganz interessiert, schaute Enrique dieser Vorfuehrung zu.

... he also demonstrated a few magic tricks. Enrique was very interested in this perfomance.

Anschliessend gab es auch etwas zu essen, allerdings war Enrique nicht allzu sehr vom Reis und den Chips begeistert und ...

Afterwards, they served some food, but Enrique was not very excited about rice and chips and ...

... nahm sich aus diesem Grund lieber eine Packung Popcorn.

... so he choose a bag of popcorn instead.


Dies sollte nicht die einzigste Leckerei an diesem Tag sein. Der Clown machte spaeter noch Zuckerwatte, die Enrique zum Glueck zu suess fand und demzufolge Mama essen konnte.

This was not the only treat of the day. Later on, the clown made some cotton candy. Fortunately, Enrique did not like the sweetness too much and therefore Mom was allowed to eat it.













Hinzu kam noch der Geburtstagskuchen, der mit kleinen Tieren versehen war.

And then, the birthday cake was served. Each muffin was decorated with a small animal.













Typisch fuer Costa Rica hing natuerlich auch wieder eine Piñata in derLuft, die es hiess zu zerschlagen. Zu aller Ueberraschung nahm sogar Enrique dieses Mal die Sache in Angriff.

Typical for Costa Rica, of course a piñata that was supposed to be smashed, was hanging from the tree. To everybody's surprise, this time even Enrique took the stick.

Familientag - Family Day

Vor der Sommerpause hat der Kindergarten Noah's Arc zu einem Familientag eingeladen. Die Eltern sollen die Chance erhalten, einen normalen Tagesablauf mitzuerleben.

Before the summer break, the kindergarten "Noah's Arc" has a family day. The parents receive the chance to experience a regular day of their kid.

Die Zeit zwischen 7:30 und 8:00Uhr, bis alle Kinder eingetroffen sind, wird spielerisch im Park verbracht.

The time between 7:30 and 8am, until all children have arrived, will be spent in the park.

Anschliessend wird der sogenannte Morgenkreis gebildet, indem sich alle zusammen mit dem Lied "Buenas dias" (spanische Version von Bruder Jakob) begruessen.

Afterwards, they all come together for the morning circle, where they greet each other with the song "Buenas dias" (spanish Version of Brother John).

Dann werden die Grossen und Kleinen voneinander getrennt. Sie begeben sich in das entsprechende Gruppenzimmer und arbeiten an den, von den Erzieherinnen, vorbereiteten Projekten. An dem heutigen Familientag werden zunaechst Namensschilder gebastelt und ...

Then the kids, depending on their age, go into separate rooms and start to work on the prepared projects of their teachers. Today, on the family day, we start handcrafting name plates, before ...

... dann arbeiten Eltern und Kinder an einem gemeinsamen Kunstprojekt.

Bevor es zum Essen geht, beteiligen sich alle am Aufraeumen.

Everybody takes part in cleaning up before we have something to eat.

Im Snack-Bereich werden die Kinder beider Gruppen wieder zusammen gefuehrt, bis die Zeit der Abholung (12Uhr) heranrueckt.

Both groups are reunited in the snack area until the pick-up time (12pm).

Gabriela's Party

Enrique's Freundin Gabriela feiert heute ihren 2. Geburtstag. Bei ihr zu Hause haben wir uns mit anderen Kindern zum spielen getroffen.

Enrique's friend Gabriela is celebrating her 2nd Birthday today. At her home, we have come together to play with other kids.

Natuerlich darf auf keinen Fall der Geburtstagskuchen fehlen.

Of course, there is also a birthday cake.

Enrique taucht - Enrique is diving

Ein kaputtgegangener Schwimmaermel beim Poolgang im Maerz hatte zur Konsequenz, dass Enrique ploetzlich Angst vorm selbstaendigen Schwimmen hatte. Also beschloss seine Mama ihn wieder am Schwimmunterricht teilnehmen zu lassen. Nicht nur die Freude am Baden kehrte dadurch zurueck, sondern auch neue Dinge, die er sich von den groesseren Kindern abschaute, wurden ausprobiert.

During a pool session back in March one of Enrique's Floaties broke, which resulted in anxiety of swimming alone. Therefore, his Mom decided to sign him up again for swim lessons. Not only the joy of going to the pool returned, Enrique also started copying things from the older kids.

Zaehlen -Counting

Zaehlen bis 10 ist mit ca. 2 Jahren sicherlich nichts Besonderes. Wenn dies aber in 3 verschiedenen Sprachen geschieht und das Kind dabei unterscheiden kann, was deutsch, englisch und spanisch ist, dann koennen die Eltern schon ziemlich stolz sein.

Counting to 10 by the age of 2 is for sure nothing special, but when this is happening in 3 different languages and the child is able to tell, what is German, English and Spanish, then his parents can be really proud.

Rebeca's & Rodrigo's Party

Enrique's Freunde, die Zwillinge Rebeca und Rodrigo, haben heute zum 2. Kindergeburtstag eingeladen.

Enrique's friends, the twins Rebeca and Rodrigo, are celebrating their 2nd birthday today.

Justin und Enrique sind, wie immer, die ersten Gaeste, denn nach Costa Ricanischen Verhaeltnissen kommt man generell 1 Stunde zu spaet!

Justin and Enrique are, like always, the first guests to arrive, as after Costa Rican "Tradition" you generally come 1 hour late!

Mit Hilfe von Ramona, Justins Mama, schaut sich Enrique die Piñata schon einmal aus naechster Naehe an.

With Ramonas help, Justins Mom, Enrique gets a close view at the Piñata.

Nicht nur jene, sondern auch alles andere wurde passend zum Thema "Madagaskar" ausgewaehlt.

Not only the Piñata, but also everything else reflects the party theme "Madagaskar".

Eine grosse Huepfburg und Pferde fuer einen kurzen Ritt am Strand gehoerten ebenfalls zum Programm. Da Enrique allerdings ein kleiner Feigling ist, was "Neues zu entdecken" betrifft, haelt er sich von diesen Dingen fern.

A gigantic jumping castle and horses to take a ride on the beach are as well part of the program. However, Enrique is a little afraid when it comes to discover new things. He rather observe them from the distance.










Schon auf mehreren Kindergeburtstagen in der Vergangenheit hat Enrique den Brauch der Piñata gesehen. Nach wie vor schaut er sich diese Tradition aber lieber mit sicherem Abstand an, als darin involviert zu sein.

At many birthday parties in the past, Enrique has seen the tradition of the piñata. He just does not like the idea of hitting, whatever is hanging from the tree.

Wenn es dann allerdings an das Einsammeln der vielen Ueberraschungen geht, ist er ganz vorn mit dabei.

But when it comes to collect the goodies, he is in the first row.

Farben - Colours

Wird Enrique, egal ob in Spanisch, Englisch oder Deutsch, nach einer Farbe gefragt, deutet er auf den richtigen Gegenstand. Umgedreht ist er etwas waehlerisch, d.h. wird ihm eine Farbe gezeigt, nennt er diese immer in der Sprache, in welcher er sie am schnellsten erlernt hat.

If Enrique, Spanish, English or German does not matter, is asked about a certain colour, he will point out the right object. But if he is shown a colour, so that he has to tell which one it is, he is a little bit more particular, as he will always say the word in the language, in which he learned it the fastest.
