Costa Rica

Vor einer Woche kam Papa mit dem Satz nach Hause: "Ich habe gute und schlechte Nachrichten." Die gute Nachricht war seine bevorstehende Befoerderung zum Finanzdirektor, doch wie immer war dies mit einem Umzug in ein anderes Land verbunden. Costa Rica sollte dieses Mal das Ziel sein. Nach einem telefonischen Interview am folgenden Tag und einer spontanen Einladung ging es fuer 4 Tage nach Costa Rica, um Land und Leute kennenzulernen.

One week ago Daddy came home and said: "I have good and bad news." The good news were his promotion to the Director of Finance, but as usual this was combined with moving to another country. The destination was Costa Rica. After a telephone interview the next day and an invitation to come to Costa Rica, we flew down to get an idea about living there.

Es sollten nur ein paar Stunden vergehen, bis Enrique, Mama und Papa am Flughafen erscheinen mussten.

Only a few hours had passed, when Enrique, Mom and Dad arrived at the airport.

Kurz darauf startete das Flugzeug ...

... es viele Tiere zu bestaunen gibt.

Das, was Enrique jedoch am meisten geniesst, ist das Wetter und die Tatsache nicht mehrere Lagen von Kleidung tragen zu muessen.

But the best of all is the weather, that allows you to wear just one layer of clothes instead of several.

Mit dem Meer hingegen kann er sich gar nicht anfreunden. Das Kommen und Gehen des Wassers, sowie das Rauschen bereiten ihm Angst und er klammert sich ganz fest an Mutti.

What he does not like at all is the ocean. The movements of the water, as well as the sounds scare him and he holds on to Mom very tight.



Nach diesen 4 Tagen stand die Entscheidung fest. Nach dem New Yorker Grossstadtleben sollte Enrique nun in einem Land aufwachsen, wo Sonnenschein, Waerme, Ruhe und Natur die Oberhand haben.

After these 4 days a decision was made. After living in the big city of New York, Enrique needed to grow up in a country, where sunshine, heat, calmness and nature dominate.

Die ersten Schritte - First steps

Bereits vor 1 Monat stellte Enrique fest, dass es neben dem nutzlosen Herumliegen bzw. -sitzen auch eine Art der Fortbewegung (Krabbeln konnte er zu diesem Zeitpunkt nicht!) gibt. Langsam entdeckte er den einen vor den anderen Fuss zu setzen und mit Hilfe von Mutti oder Vati die ersten Schritte zu machen.

Almost 1 month ago Enrique noticed, that besides laying or sitting around, there are other ways to move (At this point he could not crawl!). He discovered slowly, how to put one foot in front of the other and shortly afterwards he started to take his first steps with "some helping hands".

Neue Zaehne - New Teeth

Es ist immer wieder aufregend, wenn ein neuer Zahn zu sehen ist (Besonders fuer Denise!). Innerhalb der letzten 6 Tage sind 3 neue Zaehne durchgebrochen. Nun hat Enrique insgesamt 7, die alle in den letzten 2 1/2 Monaten das Licht der Welt erblickt haben.

It is always very exciting, when a new tooth is visible (especially for Denise!). Within the past 6 days 3 new teeth broke through. Enrique has now 7 teeth in total, which all have erupted in the past 2 1/2 months.

Aufstehen mit Hilfsmitteln - Getting up with help

Aus dem Babyalter waechst Enrique allmaehlich heraus. Die Uebergangsphase zum Kleinkind hat begonnen, was besonders durch die zunehmenden Bewegungen deutlich wird. Ueberall, wo Enrique Halt findet, versucht er sich in den Stand hochzuziehen.

Enrique has almost passed the age of an infant and he is now learning the skills to become a toddler, which include improving movements. Anywhere, where Enrique is able to grab onto, he will try to pull himself up to stand.

"Mmh, das ist gar nicht so einfach, aber ...

"Mmh, this is really difficult, but ...

Enrique tanzt - Enrique dances

Sobald Musik, wie Mama's Gesang, die Spieluhr oder herkoemmlich aus dem Radio, ertoent, beginnt Enrique sich im Takt zu bewegen. Ob es sich hierbei um einen professionellen Saenger oder Taenzer handelt, erfahren wir in ein paar Jahren.

As soon as Enrique hears music, either because Mum is singing, the musical toy is playing or the radio is on, he starts moving to the rhythm. If he is going to become a professional singer or dancer, we will find out in a few years.
