On another day, we rented a car with a very rustical, pink coloured carseat which Enrique hated.

Argentinien Teil II - Argentina Part II

Als wir nach 3 Tagen aus Uruguay nach Argentinien zurueckkehrten, blieb keine Zeit zum Luft holen, denn mit einem weiteren Mietwagen ging es in den Norden nach Santa Fe. Juan hatte seine Familie muetterlicherseits seit 1994, als sie Argentinien den Ruecken kehrten, nicht mehr gesehen.

After 3 days, we returned to Argentina, but in order not to loose any time, we rented a car and on the same day, we were heading north to Santa Fe. Juan had not seen his mothers family since 1994, when they left Argentina.

Als das 2-taegige Familientreffen beendet war, machten wir uns auf den Rueckweg nach Buenos Aires. Um jedoch die lange Autofahrt zu halbieren, blieben wir eine Nacht in Rosario.

After 2 days surrounded by family members, we were driving back towards Buenos Aires, but in order to break this 4 hour journey into 2 parts, we stayed one night in Rosario.

Rosario ist die 2. groesste Stadt des Landes und wurde durch das Denkmal der Nationalflagge bekannt.

Rosario, the second biggest city in this south american country, is famous for its National Flag Monument.

Der 20. Juni, dem Tag an dem das Denkmal 1957 eingeweiht wurde, ist ein Nationalfeiertag, an dem die Erfindung der Flagge durch Manuel Belgrano gefeiert wird. Dafuer werden die Strassen und Haeuser in allen Staedten mit tausenden Fahnen dekoriert. Enrique war davon so sehr begeistert, dass er sich eine Fahne fuer daheim wuenschte. In Mamas Kopf spielten sich schon die wildesten Vorstellungen ab, wo er diese dann wohl plazieren wollen wird, aber ganz zu unserer Ueberraschung ...

The 20th of June, the day when the monument was inaugurated in 1957, is a national holiday, where Argentinians celebrate the creation of the flag by Manuel Belgrano. For this event, the streets and buildings nationwide are decorated with thousands of flags. Enrique enjoyed this so much that he was asking for a flag that he could take home. In Moms head the wildest ideas about where this flag would have to be placed started growing, but to our surprise ...

... entschied sich Enrique fuer die kleine Version, die uns in den kommenden Tagen durch Buenos Aires begleitete.

... Enrique just wanted the small version with a wooden stick in order to be able to walk through Buenos Aires with it during the next few days.

Argentinien Teil III - Argentina Part III

Nach einer erlebnisreichen Woche und hunderten zurueckgelegten Kilometern kehrten wir nach Buenos Aires zurueck, wo wir die restlichen 6 Tage verbrachten.

After one eventful week and having covered hundreds of kilometers, we returned to Buenos Aires, where we spent the last 6 days.

Natuerlich stand viel Sightseeing auf dem Plan, wie z.B. die bekannte Gegend "La Boca".

Da Enrique das alles zu Fuss meisterte, verdiente er sich viele Getraenkepausen.

Das Kuenstlerviertel "Recoletta" hinterliess positive und negative Eindruecke bei Enrique. Er war total begeistert von den Graffitiwerken und haette stundenlang davor stehen bleiben koennen, aber ...

The Bohemian side of town, "Recoletta" left both positive and negative impressions with Enrique. He was amazed by the graffiti paintings and could have spent hours just looking at them, but ...

... he hated the cementary.

... fand er ueberhaupt nicht toll. Alles war okay, bis Mama seine Frage, wo wir uns befinden, zu ehrlich beantwortete. Tote Menschen? Das konnte Enrique nicht verarbeiten und somit muessten wir gehen, bevor beruehmte Graeber, wie das von Evita, gesehen zu haben.

Everything was alright until Mom gave him a truthful answer to his question about where we were. Dead people? This was too much to handle and therefore, we had to leave before we saw the graves of famous people like Evita.


Sehr ueberrascht waren wir auch von der grossen Anzahl an Tauben, die es auf allen Plaetzen zu hunderten gab. Enrique hatte Freude daran sie zu fuettern und zum fliegen zu animieren.

We were also very surprised by the great amount of doves which were all over the capital. Enrique enjoyed feeding them or making them fly.

Ausserdem konnten wir Dinge mit Enrique machen, die in Costa Rica nicht moeglich sind, z.B. der Besuch eines Musicals, zu dem uns auch Enrique's Freunde Luca und Miro, die zur gleichen Zeit dort Urlaub machten, begleiteten.

On top of this, we were able to experience things that we do not get to do in Costa Rica, like watching a musical. Enrique's friends Luca and Miro who were on vacation there at the same time, joined us.











Neben einem Zoobesuch stand auch noch das Kindermuseum auf dem Programm, was wir bereits von Houston und New York kannten. Das argentinische war jedoch mit Abstand das Beste, nicht nur von der Vielseitigkeit aus gesehen, sondern auch die Instandhaltung und Sauberkeit war herausragend.

Besides visiting the zoo, we also went to see the Children Museum which we already knew from Houston and New York, but the Argentinian one was by far the best. Not only the variety was convincing, but also the maintenance and cleanlines were outstanding.
