Urlaub in der Tuerkei - Vacation in Turkey

Fast waere der Urlaub in die Tuerkei (14.08. bis 21.08.2013) noch ins Wasser gefallen, denn am letzten Kindergartentag kam Enrique mit starken Kopfschmerzen nach Hause, die nach wenigen Stunden von Fieber und Erbrechen begleitet wurden. Eine Nacht zum Auskurieren, bevor eine Entscheidung gefaellt werden musste, sollte Enrique haben . Gluecklicherweise schlug das Ibuprofen an und somit stand dem Flug nichts im Weg.

One day before our trip to Turkey (14th until 21st of August 2013), our vacation almost had to be cancelled, cause Enrique, coming home from kindergarten, was complaining about a very painful headache that was accompanied by fever and throwing up a few hours later. One night was left to get rid of this virus before a decision had to be made wether or not we were flying to Turkey. Fortunately, the Ibuprofen helped towards a speedy recovery and so we took off as planned.
 

 

In der Tuerkei angekommen, genossen wir erst einmal den Ausblick aus unserem Hotelfzimmerfenster und erfreuten uns an den vielen Sonnenstrahlen.

Dann ging es zum Pool. Wie hatte Enrique es vermisst sich stundenlang im Wasser aufhalten zu koennen. Ob mit der Luftmatratze oder auf den beiden Rutschen, Enrique haette hier am liebsten den ganzen Tag verbracht.

... before heading to the pool. Enrique could have stayed there every day from sunrise until sunset, cause he missed the water. Whether with the inflatible mattress or going down the slides, it never seemed to bore him.

 

Ganz schoen nervig war der Kampf um die Poolliegen. Bereits 6 Uhr morgens standen die deutschen Urlauber auf, nur um eine Liege mit ihrem Handtuch zu besetzen. Diesen Stress taten wir uns nicht mehr als 1 Tag an. Die Luftmatratze oder ein normaler Tisch mit Stuehlen reichte uns fuer die kurzen Poolpausen vollkommen aus.

One thing that was really getting on our nerves was the fight about the pool chairs. At 6am in the morning, the german tourists would leave their towels, so that they would stay reserved for them for the whole day. Enrique and I were on vacation and therefore, it was not in our mind to play this game longer than one day. Instead, we decided to use our inflatable mattress or a regular table with chairs for the small breaks outside the water.

 

Die 2. Lieblingsbeschaeftigung Enrique's waehrend dieses "Faulenzerurlaubes" war das Essen. Am laufenden Band wurde gekoechelt. Ob tuerkische Crepes, suess oder herzhaft, ...

Enrique's 2nd favorite activity during this lazy vacation week was eating. There was constantly something that they would serve. Either turkish crepes, filled with something sweet or hearty, ...

... Waffeln oder Wassermelone, zu jeder Stunde stand etwas anderes auf dem Menu; ganz abgesehen ...

... waffles or watermelon, every full hour different food was served in a different corner of the hotel besides ...

... von den Fruehstuecks-, Mittags- und Abendessenbuefetts.

Am Abend sorgten die Animateure fuer Unterhaltung. Um bei der Tanzshow fuer Kinder zu bekannten deutschen Kinderliedern mitzuwirken, fehlte es Enrique jedoch an Mut. Er spielte lieber Karten und ...

In the evening, animators entertained the hotel guests. Enrique was a bit too shy to participate in the daily dance show for kids where they were playing german children songs. He rather played cards and ...

... sang bzw. tanzte im Hintergrund des Publikums mit.

Das Wetter war schon sehr erdrueckend, so dass man nur allein vom Herumsitzen ziemlich muede wurde. Deshalb kamen auch keine Staedtetouren in Frage, aber ...

 

As it was extremely hot in Turkey, just sitting around made you very tired. Therefore, it was impossible to take Enrique on a city trip, instead ...

 

...  wir nahmen an einer Piratentour auf einem echten Piratenschiff teil.

... erkundeten wir zunaechst das Schiff.

Wenig spaeter rief der Kapitaen Jack Sparrow seine kleinen Piratenlehrlinge zu sich, denn um ein richtiger Pirat werden zu wollen, ...

... mussten die Kleinen zunaechst ein paar Aufgaben erfuellen.

... which tasks they had to fulfill in order to become pirates.

 

Als das Schiff irgendwann in einer Bucht anlegte, war es Zeit fuer eine Abkuehlung.

At some point, the ship stopped in a bay where people took the chance to cool down.

 

 

Anschliessend nahmen wir einen zuenftigen Piratenschmaus zu uns, bevor im Anschluss die Schaumparty folgte. Enrique konnte sich dafuer jedoch gar nicht begeistern, da es eher beaenstigend war von groesseren Kindern umgeben und mit Schaum bedeckt zu sein.

 

After a good pirate meal, it was time for the foam party. Enrique was not able to really enjoy this part of the trip, cause it was scary  for him to be surrounded by taller kids completely covered by foam.

 

 

Die Nachmittagsstunden brachen an und das Schiff befand sich wieder auf dem Rueckweg zum Hafen. Es verliess das Meer und kehrte ueber eine kleine Schneisse auf den Manavgat Fluss zurueck.

Shortly after, the afternoon hours broke in and the ship was on his way back to the port. After leaving the ocean through a tiny aisle that connects the Mediterranean sea and the Manavgat River, we took the second bathing stop.

Nun bestand die Moeglichkeit bei 16 Grad Wassertemperatur im Fluss oder bei 24 Grad im Meer baden zu gehen. Auf welche Seite der Halbinsel es Enrique verschlug, war keine Ueberraschung.

Either going for a swim in the 16 degree cold water of the Manavgat River or in the 24 degree warm water of the Mediterranean Sea was a tough decision that had to be made. Enrique knew right away which side of the little peninsula he would choose.

This unforgettable trip ended with a treasure hunt and ...

... somit konnte sich Enrique ab sofort als Pirat bezeichnen.

Da sich unser Hotel in der Naehe von Side befand, war es unumgaenglich wenigstens dieser Stadt einen Besuch zu erstatten.

Due to the fact that our hotel was located close to the city Side, we had no excuse to at least go and visit this part of Turkey.

... ein wunderschoener Hafenbereich erwarteten uns.

... and a beautiful port area.

Unvermeidlich war es einen tuerkischen Duerum Doener zu probieren.

Obviously, it was unavoidable to have a typical turkish Duerum Kebap.

Ein wunderschoener Urlaub ging zu Ende. Enrique kehrte als Pirat nach Deutschland zurueck und meinte: ...

When our wonderful vacation time was coming to an end, Enrique returned to Germany as a pirate.

"Mutti, ich moechte in einem Land mit einem RICHTIGEN Sommer leben, so wie hier und in Costa Rica!".

His conclusion was: "Mom, I want to live in a country with a REAL summer like in Turkey and Costa Rica."
