Den 10. Jahrestag, seit dem Kennenlernen von Enrique's Eltern, nahmen jene als Anlass, um fuer ein paar Tage (12.03.-18.03) in die alte Heimat "New York" zurueckzukehren.

The 10th anniversary, since Enrique's parents met, was taken as an occasion to return for a few days (12.03.-18.03.) to the old home town "New York".

Bei eisigen Temperaturen von 5 Grad musste sich Enrique ganz schoen warm anziehen, um tagsueber nicht zu erfrieren.

Due to icy-cold temperatures of 5 degrees, Enrique had to wear warm clothes, in order not to freeze during the day.

Und dann konnte es losgehen: Im Vordergrund standen natuerlich Ziele, die sowohl gross, als auch klein begeistern.

And then it was time to start: Mainly, destinations that brought joy for young and old were on the agenda.

Auf dem Fahrrad nahm Enrique schon mal eine Sitzprobe, obwohl er nach wie vor erst einmal lernen muss, die Pedale seines Dreirades zu treten.

Enrique tried to sit on a bicycle, eventhough he still has to learn how to use the pedals on his tricycle.

Der Hoehepunkt in diesem Spielzeugladen war mit Abstand jedoch die ueberdimensionale Eisenbahnplatte fuer "Thomas, die Lokomotive". Alle Dinge, um Enrique herum waren vergessen.

However, the highlight in this store was by far the oversized platform with "Thomas the train"-tracks. Everything around Enrique became invisible.

Die einzige Sache, die dieses Erlebnis noch uebertreffen konnte, war die tatsaechliche "Zugfahrt". Jede U-Bahn hiess "Thomas" und Enrique war kaum zu bremsen, wenn jene in die Station einfuhr. Richtig problematisch wurde es vom 2.Tag an, als Enrique schon aus der Ferne die U-Bahn-Eingaenge erkennen konnte und seine Eltern ihn davon abhalten mussten, einzutreten.

The only event that was able to top this experience, was the real "Train ride". Every subway was called "Thomas" and it was difficult to hold Enrique back when the train reached the station. From the 2nd day on, it became a real problem, as Enrique already recognized the subway entrances from the distance. He always wanted to go on a ride.











Zwischendurch meldete sich natuerlich auch der kleine Hunger. Und was kommt da im Fast-Food-Land USA unter anderem in Frage? Ein Besuch bei McDonalds!

In between, we needed of course something to eat. And what kind of food can you get on every street corner in the Fast-Food-Country USA? Correct: McDonalds!

Den Sonntag verbrachten wir im Central Park und auch hier kam Enrique wieder voll auf seine Kosten.

Sunday - we spent in Central Park and even here, Enrique got his money's worth.

Am Abend genoss Enrique im Wechsel mit Mama und Papa schoene, warme Baeder, um den Frost des Tages aus den Knochen zu vertreiben.

In the evenings, Enrique enjoyed nice, warm baths with either Mom or Dad, in order to defrost his bones.

Trotz, fuer Costa Rica, ungewohnter Wetterverhaeltnisse waren sich Enrique und seine Mutti darueber einig, dass der Trip nach New York, eine der schoensten Staedte der Welt, einfach Spitze war.

Despite the different, uncomfortable weather, compared to Costa Rica, Enrique and his Mom agreed that the trip to New York, one of the most beautiful cities in the world, was great.
